LET THERE BE LEOPARD: TOP 5 PIECES TO SHOP THIS PRINT

Leopard is everywhere you look this season. It’s a timeless print you can easily add to your closest for fall.

My first nod to the trend in the last few months was a leopard skirt I scored at & Other Stories in the perfect slip style.

Of course, I can’t get enough. Being a denim girl, I wear jeans on the daily. These leopard pants I came across at Zara make the print even more wearable and a bit unexpected in a jean.

Wear with your favorite neutral tee like me or add a cool vintage style to mix it up. As soon as the temps drop, I see myself styling these with an oversized sweater and loafers.

Possibilities are endless. Are you ready to step into the wild side? (Had to! Lol)

Athleisure: Not Just Your Weekend Wear

_MG_0971-Edit

Ladies– it is now socially acceptable to wear leggings and sweatpants outside of the house and gym.

Yes you read that correctly.

“Athleisure” is not just a trend that has brought workout wear to the streets, it’s a lifestyle.

Though I am not an avid gym go-er, I do consider myself  an avid Beyoncé dance class fanatic where I can wear  a sporty look. This may derive from my second-grade obsession for the “windbreaker suit” while working the halls of Indian Meadows elementary school – but I digress.

In today’s time – it’s all about staying polished. Leggings can be a substitute for pants if you make them appropriate.

It’s important to cover the obvious “assets.”. Take a note from  the 90’s and wrap your favorite gray sweatshirt around your waist if your top doesn’t make the mark.

For this look, I added structure with my American Eagle Outfitters quilted bomber jacket. A military green is a great addition to your wardrobe since it acts as a neutral and can be very versatile as we gear into spring. Layering with my current favorite cropped sweater from Aerie adds the perfect mix of texture.

These leggings that I call my “scuba pants” are awesome because they don’t lose their shape. Many brands are starting to sell this fabric in cool new ways from track jackets to tops to even dresses so you can incorporate this trend into your wardrobe whatever your style.

Purchasing these Nike Free sneakers changed my life. I didn’t know walking around the city could be so comfortable. The shoes feel like you’re walking on a cloud – not to mention, on my walk to work in the morning I usually spot about 5 other men and women rocking these kicks and we all have an understanding of how comfortable we feel.

Who knew a simple black knit sneaker could be so amazing? (I need more!)

I finished my look with this baseball cap from Aritzia. I love the simple black design and that I can throw it on when I want to feel a little more mysterious.

How will you athleisure?

TEXTURE MIX

Denim, a fuzzy sweater and leather might be my favorite winter combo.

This texture mix is a bit unexpected. It makes it the perfect “model off duty” combination — my favorite look to rock!

I got these leather leggings last year at Aritzia and usually wear them for a night out but wanted to try them out for day time and what better way then wearing them with a great denim jacket?

This one is from American Eagle Outfitters – it is a boyfriend fit which I love. An oversized denim jacket modernizes the look – where so many denim jackets can be awkwardly cropped or too short for most tops. #thestruggleisreal

This one pairs great with this sweater by Babaton (also from Aritzia). I love this shade of cream, it’s super cozy soft and softens my leather leggings.

Throwing on my classic black Converse keeps the look casual with some edge but I can easily add a black bootie for the evening and meet friends out for dinner in no time.

I bet you already have these pieces in your wardrobe which makes this look super easy to recreate.

Are you excited to try this look?

Sneaker style has always held a dear place in my heart. I remember in 3rd grade getting a pair of suede navy Vans and being so excited to wear them to school the next day I could hardly sleep. In 7th grade came the adidas Superstar obsession where me and my best friend Jessica had to have a pair.

The excitement holds strong to this day, and living in NYC has given me a whole new appreciation for sneaker style. In the city you’re constantly running around and as the fashion world may look like it’s a sea of women in high heels – it’s not. A good pair of casual street sneakers is key in your wardrobe!

I love the idea of making your sneaker be the statement. In this look I chose to salute Hov and do “all back everything.” These olive green Nike Blazers are from J.Crew and a dear gift from my co-workers. I had my eye on this pair for some time. What’s awesome about this style of sneakers is that you can customize them at Nike, and they come in an endless range of colors – I need them all!

I love the look of a high-top. With a skinny jean you can really show them off and have some fun. I paired my sneaks with a pair of high-rise jeans by Talula at Aritzia, tank from American Eagle Outfitters, leather jacket from this random boutique in Soho and Kate Spade Saturday sunglasses which make me always feel put together. A leather jacket  keeps this look structured so you still feel polished. I also enjoy pairing this type of sneaker with a dress — a bit unexpected and adds that cool-girl edge I love.

From high-top to low-top you can’t really go wrong. This is not the sneaker you are wearing to the gym but could totally work at a Beyonce dance class (a personal favorite activity)!

Are you ready to step up your sneaker game?
