Some might say florals are just for spring (Devil Wear’s Prada) but at Syma Speaks we beg to differ and are loving this trend for his and hers style. I enlisted my favorite Fashionisto friend, John to showcase how the floral trend can work not just for the ladies but for the guys in our life as well.
It takes a confident man to rock a trend like this but when pulled off correctly, it can have dramatic results. Though florals are mainly a warm-weather staple, the designs from the spring and summer 2014 collections were dark — thus making them easy to transition to the cooler months. If you’re not afraid to wear a bold color and fun pattern, put on a pair and match it with your key basic pieces in your closet like denim to balance it out.
Denim is your best bet. I wasn’t sure I could wear my favorite summer dress into the cooler months but layered over my favorite pair of destroyed AEO Jeggings and with my Aritzia trench it was a smooth transition. This look can easily take me from shopping in Soho to brunch with the girls. My boots by Rachel Comey are super versatile and not to mention comfortable when I’m running around the city.
John’s keeping it classic with a denim jacket and white button-down that don’t compete with his amazing Kenzo pants. We just so happened to color coordinate — promise we didn’t plan it. 🙂
Will you wear this trend in time to make Thanksgiving a little more festive? You can do it! Xo, Syma & John
