Yes, this Saturday marks March 1st, and in NYC last weekend we got a taste of 50 degree weather which surprisingly felt like summer. As I sat around with my friends at The Standard wearing only a denim jacket, I thought, “Wow, possibilities are endless, I can’t wait for more spring fashion!” …Then the weather sadly turned on us and we’re back to a mere high of 27 degrees.
Instead of getting all Debbie Downer on you on with this winter weather that somehow won’t leave us – we might as well make the most of the key pieces every Fashionista (hopefully) owns to maximize your style during these colder days.
1. The Over-sized Knit Sweater + Leather Legging
I can’t get enough of this combo. On top you’re casual and relaxed, but add the leather leggings and you’ve easily edged up your ensemble. Model off duy? Nailed it. H&M makes a great option at an even greater price, I would size up to get the over-sized look.
2. Colorful Beanie
Beanies are a quick and easy accessory that serves as fashion and function. Your mom will be happy you’re staying warm, and a pop of color can easily add a bold statement to your everyday leather jacket, parka or puffer. Borrowed from the boys, this trend is unisex and can be a quick steal out of your boyfriend’s closet! Get the look from ae.com
3. Statement Jacket
In a sea of puffers and parkas or what I like to call “sleeping bag coats” — a bright jacket is something so out of the ordinary to brighten up any dreary day. I love how this Fashionista paired hers with a cute beanie, over-sized shades and leather pants. Take notes ladies! #screenshotworthy

4. The Black Ankle Boot
The most versatile item you can own. I wear my black ankle boots with everything! Jeans to skirts to dresses — there’s nothing this shoe can’t go with. I have various styles; flat, heeled, platform — suede to leather to studded, this shoe has endless possibilities. If you don’t own at least one pair, I’m not sure we can be friends. NECESSARY. I’m obsessed with my recent purchase from Sam Edleman, so comfortable and stylish – win-win!
5. The Blanket Scarf
This scarf has saved me the past two winters. Some may say, “Syma — are you wearing a blanket?” but in my mind, haters gonna hate. Put this on and you will basically feel like you’re in Miami, so cozy and warm! You can also wear this scarf as a poncho — who doesn’t want that option? Aritiza, thank you for this.
With these pieces you’ll be sure to turn the sidewalk into a runway — cue street style photographers!
